Chlamydia
Chlamydia, caused by the Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria, is one of the most prevalent STDs affecting both men and women. Gonorrhea

It is important to note that there is a window period post-exposure when lab assays are unable to detect molecules that are diagnostic of an STD infection. This means that a false-negative result may occur for any samples that are collected within this window period.
The length of this window period differs for each STD. Most STDs can be detected with 2–4 weeks post-exposure, while others (such as HIV) may not be detectable until 18 to 45 days post-exposure.

What are STDs?
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can also be known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They are infections that are usually spread from person to person during vaginal, anal, and oral sex. Although many STDs are quite common, a lot of infected people do not show any symptoms, and are unaware that they have an STD and can pass the disease to others. Without treatment, STDs can lead to serious health complications. However, most STDs are easy to test for and can be effectively treated.
How can I prevent STDs?
Avoiding vaginal, rectal or oral sex is the only definite way to prevent catching an STD through sexual contact. Other steps include correct and consistent use of male condoms, and being in a long-term monogamous relationship with a tested partner.
Some of the STDs included in this STD test can also be transmitted through contact with infected blood. Steps to reduce blood transmission include following safe injection practices, avoiding the sharing of injectable drug equipment, and avoiding unregulated tattoo and piercing establishments.

If I get a positive result, what should I do next?
Contact a health professional to discuss any positive results as soon as possible. Additional testing is required for confirmation for several of the STDs tested. Ensure that any recent sexual partners are aware of your diagnosis so they can also request testing.
Do I need routine STD testing if I always use condoms?
Consistent and correct use of male latex condoms does reduce the risk of transmitting STDs. However, condoms do not eliminate the risk of STD transmission. This is especially important for syphilis if the condom does not cover the lesion.
Therefore, routine STD screening is still recommended for sexually active individuals, particularly with multiple sexual partners, even if condoms are consistently used.
